Jackbooted fascist thugs in full combat gear (allegedly local cops and SWAT teams, although they look like military troops to me) attacked a legal, insured, fully permitted rave called Verses in Utah County, Utah over the weekend.
An unlinked commentator on What Really Happened claimed that a "source inside the Utah government reports that this action was undertaken out of fear that the rave would be used to rally support for the protest against Bush's Utah visit."
Welcome to Amerikkka. If you think it can't happen here - news flash - it already is and has been for along time. It just wasn't happening to middle class white kids. This brutal attack was instigated to condition the people to police state repression and to give the fascists some intitial practice mauling peaceful civilian gatherings - based on the premise that they are about to start becoming a whole lot more common.

First they came for Muslims, and I said nothing, because I was not a Muslim. Then they came for ravers, and I said nothing, because I had no glow stick.
Utah is one of the most conservative (and creepy and beautiful) states in the country, so we shouldn't be surprised that it is the setting for one of the early episodes of the raw power crackdown that will become ever more prevelant throughout Amerikkka in the next few years. Music is a powerful source of community, solidarity and unity, which can easily lead to social and political consciousness, just like rock did in the 1960s. Clearly, the Evildoers - the Amerikkkan chapter of transnational corporate kleptocracy - cannot allow any sources of community, solidarity and unity to develop any strength. Hence their need to beat up teenage girls.
You think they'll do the same at Nascar tailgate parties? Somehow I doubt it.

It is awful that this kind of thing can happend, and get no coverage on the mainstream news. I am from Europe, and certainly in the Eighties there were many events which happened like this ( police state brutality ). For parralels, please search for Battle of the Beanfield, or poll tax demonstration, which Thatcher's government used extreme force to quell the voices of anyone who opposed her Facist legislation. Oh, and a very nicely written piece might I add.

i don't know what is happening theese days.I'm from Czech republic, where the biggest underground music happening - CzechTekk - was brutally ended by czech police(see more at www.policejnistat.cz).We have to defend our rights and stop theese methods in goverments all over the world.Music is the first thing that totality goverment breaks.Then comes censorship of literature, poetry and criminalization of inconvenient people.Please everybody go and vote against fascists and communists.In every countries.If you won't they will consume us all.And you, politics, decide what you want to do, if you want help people or opress them.And remember : theese people feed you.Whether they listen DnB,Tekkno,Rock or POP !!!!!!Drugs are problem of the goverment and legislative not the problem of theese parties.BTW any drug was made on the party !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
